What a wonderful time we have had over the last few months with some great events in which everyone could take part. Thank you to everyone that has supported us in so many ways.
We started with our Autumn Fundraising Day on November 6th. It was so good to be able to hold a lovely coffee morning in the centre of Wotton and spread the word about Read with me.
We had delicious homemade cakes, the Brownies and Guides joined us, the sale tables were full of fabulous bargains, and we had our raffle with some wonderful local prizes. The coffee morning was followed by a BBQ over at The Star Inn. Huge thanks to the team at The Star and Wotton Rugby Club for lending us their BBQ. The burgers and sausages from Middlewick Farm Meats and rolls from Walkers the Bakers were delicious!

Two of our super volunteers attended North Nibley Primary School Shopping evening on 12th November.
Thank you to FONNS for the warm welcome. Christmas spirit was well underway by this time!
We had a wonderful time at the Christmas Under the Edge Event in Wotton Under Edge on Saturday 4th December. It was such a delight to see the happy faces of the children taking part in our children’s tombola in Market Street and our pay as you feel sale table was in a warm and cosy spot in the Town Hall.
The music, atmosphere, entertainment, and joy on this evening really showed what a wonderful community we have in Wotton-Under-Edge.
We held a special lunch and round table discussion on Thursday 9th December.
The lunch was held at the newly opened Long Table in Matson. Thank you to the Long Table Team for being so kind and accommodating. We enjoyed the most delicious vegetarian chilli followed by award winning Wholly Gelato ice cream with a mango coulis and famous Matson Oaty!

Many thanks to the Gloucestershire Gateway Team for their support with this event and to everyone that was involved in the discussion focusing on the future of Read with me and how we help even more children in 2022 and the years that follow.
We had a fun evening in Matson on Friday 10th December for their community Christmas Lantern Parade. It was great to see so many children from the schools that we volunteer in, and our children’s tombola provided lots of entertainment along with the snow machine after the parade!
Our Christmas cards have also popped up at The Cotswold Book Room, Fifi’s Fancy Furniture, Fish out of Water, Bear Street Garage, Surroundings in Thornbury, Leaf and Ground and The Sub Rooms in Stroud. Thank you to these businesses for the support and to everyone who placed an order online.
Thank you to Debbie Young and Lou Medlicott who also took the cards along to some local Christmas Fairs.

Look out for our upcoming fundraising events in January including our Hundreds and Thousands Club. You’ll be able to sign up for a fun fitness challenge where you can set your target in any multiple of 100K to walk, run, cycle, swim, row or freestyle in the month of January.
