Read With Me to provide half-term fun across Gloucester!

Our Not So Secret Book Clubs offer activities for children of all ages to take part in over the school holidays. They take place in various locations across Gloucester, so you should never be too far from a Not So Secret Book Club. Originally created at the start of the pandemic to provide outside activities for children when all our provision had disappeared, the Not So Secret Book Club is a free half day session designed for children, from tiny toddlers to teens.

This half-term we’re running four more Not So Secret Book Clubs, all of which are entirely free to attend and promise fun for the whole family! Check out what we’ve got planned below:

  • We’re at Robinswood Hill on Tuesday 30th May for a  special Stone Age edition of the Not So Secret Book Club. Join us from 11am – 2pm to take part in some positively pre-historic crafts and a super stone age treasure trail! As well Cave Baby storytime and storytelling.
  • On Thursday 1st June we’ll be collaborating with Gloucester Cathedral for an extraordinary edition of our Not So Secret Book Club. Find us in the Chapter House from 12 noon – 3pm. We’ll be making magical bookmarks and creating stories based on the Tailor of Gloucester, surrounded by the majesty of the Cathedral.
  • If you can’t make it to Gloucester Cathedral, come along to our Not So Secret Book Club at Scott Avenue Open Space on Thursday 1st June from 10am-4pm. This event is in collaboration with a number of local organisations as part of Podsmead Community Play Day. There will be food trucks, sports activities, fire pits, wood working, and even a smoothie bike so you can pedal your way to a healthy treat! Of course we will also be offering our usual Not So Secret Book Club activities, including storytime and FREE books to take home!
  • To finish off the week, we’ll be at Synwell Playing Field, Wotton-under-Edge for another Stone Age edition of the Not So Secret Book Club from 10am -12pm on Friday 2nd June. Again, there will be the opportunity to take part in some stone aged crafts, including making your own woolly mammoth! As well as storytime and the stone age treasure trail.

As always, there will be FREE books available for children to take home on the day; we want every child to read something they enjoy at home. You don’t have to book to attend – just turn up and be ready to get stuck in!
